Club Moolia: Formula 1-style racetrack, private motoring club, lagoon under construction in Chittering Valley

An exclusive playground for the rich anchored by a private Formula One-style race track and the biggest man-made lagoon in WA is set to open in the Chittering Valley next year. Club Moolia is billed as a “lifestyle destination” near Bindoon that is aimed at wealthy motoring enthusiasts who want to race their high-performance cars in an opulent environment. The cheapest memberships require a $30,000 sign-on fee and then $5000 a year, rising to $150,000 and $10,000 for “conglomerate” packages. Work has started on a 4.6km hi-grip asphalt track that will boast 17 “exhilarating” turns and specialist pit lanes. A two-storey, 400 square metre club lounge will overlook the circuit and lagoon and members can also hire private boxes. A sports academy providing “specialized nutrition, strength, technical programs, expert coaching, and performance analysis” will be based around five indoor tennis courts that are to be equipped with laser-analysis of how players are moving on court and hitting the ball. There will be a golf driving range and indoor and outdoor obstacle courses. Club Moolia says the central waterpark is being constructed by Crystal Lagoons, which is “the pioneer of monumental, pure turquoise lagoons with sustainable features”. The 12000 square meter pool will be up 2.4m deep and suitable for kayaking and parasailing. Work started on the $10 million first stage of the project early this year after the State Government ticked off on the plan put forward by Club Moolia. The club, which counts Singapore fund manager Ascapia Capital as a primary investor, said it was targeting an even split between local members and would-be racers from Asia. “Motor vehicle car costs are exorbitant in South-East Asia,” a spokesperson for the project said. “For example, in Singapore government taxes can exceed four times the body value of a car (a Ferrari costs over S$1.5 million nowadays), so we believe we offer a strong value proposition to those who are looking to own and enjoy their vehicles and do so at a much lower price than in their home country. “We have partnered with JCDecaux to market Club Moolia to international travellers arriving into Terminal 1 at Perth International Airport.” Vehicles will be housed in a 90-bay, 3600 square metre garage. The spokesperson said the company was offering 150 memberships in total and the two lower level packages were fully subscribed.
