An Adelaide man is planning possible home renovations and travel trips after nabbing an unexpected $400,000 boost.

The man received the shock money injection after winning a weekend Lotto draw, declaring the notification phone call “the best call I’ve ever had”.

“At first, it said I had a win, but I thought, ‘Oh yeah, probably $7’,” he said on Monday.

“Then, when I saw the full prize, I thought, ‘You must be joking’.

“That was a lovely surprise. Better than a kick in the guts.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for a long time. I just ticked some boxes years ago and stuck with them.

“We’re already starting to think about what we could do with $400,000, from home renovations to travel.”

The South Australian held one of the 13 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday’s X Lotto draw 4509.

Each winning entry received $401,209.

In Mackay, in Central Queensland, a mum said she was still “shaking” from the shock of her win.

“When I checked my ticket just before, I screamed,” she said.

“My daughter came running to see what was wrong. My daughter has been telling me to breathe.

“This is going to help pay the bills and mortgage. It’s unbelievable.”
