GSFL 2025: Young Railways group excited to enter second season under guidance of player-coach Bodhi Stubber

Railways will enter a second season under the helm of player-coach Bodhi Stubber, with the Tigers announcing his reappointment for the 2025 season this week. Stubber took the reins as league coach last year, guiding the Tigers to the finals but they were knocked out of the Great Southern Football League premiership race in the elimination final. On Monday the Tigers announced that Stubber would continue as coach of the league side, while confirming Adam Warren (reserves) and Chris Tschabotar (16s) had also been reappointed. Stubber said he would draw on plenty of learnings from his first season as senior coach and pointed to an enthusiastic young group as a key reason for his re-signing. “I can’t do it just for one year and I learnt a lot from last year,” he said. “I was lucky to have good help last year but there are a few things I can do differently. “I think we built a strong core of younger guys last year, they are all buzzing again. “There is always a few challenges, a few older guys will retire so we will be even younger than last year I’d say.” The Tigers officially start their pre-season on Friday night and Stubber said the club had locked in a couple of practice games ahead of the new GSFL season starting on April 25. Railways president Wayne Stubber said when they appointed Bodhi last season it was with a longer-term view. “When we signed him up last year we were looking for a two to three-year commitment,” Wayne Stubber said. “We weren’t really actively seeking another applicant, and we didn’t have any other applicants for the league role. “As a club we think (Bodhi) learnt a bit last year and we think we will grow as a coach this year. “He’s been working hard in the off-season to get the right guys helping him on the bench.” The club is expected to name a colts coach in the coming weeks.
