Scotty’s Shot: Middleton Beach Green move to top of ladies’ division one ladder, Emu Point Red stay undefeated

Lower Great Southern Bowling League ladies’ first division round five saw Middleton Beach Green easily defeat Emu Point Purple 4 (47) to 0 (24) to take the top spot on the ladder, while reigning pennant holders Emu Point Red had their first win of the season, overcoming Middleton Beach White 3.5 (46) to 0.5 (42).
In the remaining game, Mt Barker Golf accounted for the travelling Albany Green side 3 (42) to 1 (34).
In the ladies’ second division, Denmark Aqua shot to the top of the ladder, overcoming Albany Gold in a one-shot thriller 3 (43) to 1 (42) as Cranbrook had a valuable home win against Middleton Beach Red 3 (45) to 1 (37).
Mt Barker Golf easily took care of Emu Point Blue 4 (59) to 0 (27) to remain in third position on the ladder.
Reigning men’s first division pennant holders Emu Point Red remain undefeated after handing Denmark their first loss of the season 5 (61) to 1 (53), while Middleton Beach Gold demolished Middleton Beach Black 6 (83) to 0 (42).
Mt Barker Golf Red moved to second on the ladder after defeating Emu Point Purple 5.5 (62) to 0.5 (43) as Middleton Beach Green handed Albany Gold a 4.5 (67) to 1.5 (53) loss.
This has now opened a clear gap between the bottom and the top four.
In the men’s second division Albany Green have catapulted into the top three after an impressive 6 (65) to 0 (56) win over Emu Point White as Albany Brown remain the only undefeated side in the division after a hard-fought 4 (57) to 2 (54) win over Mt Barker.
Middleton Beach White had a commanding 5 (73) to 1 (57) win over bottom-placed Cranbrook, while Albany Grey were too good at home for Mt Barker Golf White, winning 5 (58) to 1 (55).
Round six of the men’s third division had Denmark move to within two points of top-placed Walpole, who had the bye, after a 5 (62) to 1 (46) win over Emu Point Blue, while Middleton Beach Lime had a huge win over Mt Barker 6 (82) to 0 (41).
Frankland handed Albany White a hiding after a 5 (84) to 1 (43) win, as Mt Barker Golf Blue easily accounted for Green Range at home 6 (73) to 0 (60).
