Carlton Football Club president Luke Sayers has claimed his X account was “hacked” after it posted an explicit photo of a penis about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

The post, which featured a man exposing his penis while lying down, tagged the account of a female executive at a company with links to the club.

The post was quickly deleted after going live on Wednesday before a second post was then uploaded 13 minutes later explaining: “Sorry – my account has been hacked – please ignore all posts.”

The former PwC chief executive then deactivated his account.

It’s understood the football executive is on holiday with his family in Italy’s Lake Como, with Mr Sayers telling the Herald Sun newspaper the incident was “outrageous”.

“I’m investigating and will leave no stone unturned finding out who did this to me and my family,’ he added.

Hacks are common on X, formerly known as Twitter, with millions of bot accounts floating around the site.

The X website recommends that users have a “strong password that they don’t reuse on other sites” and set up “two factor authentication” to avoid accounts being compromised.

A Carlton Football Club representative declined to provide additional comment.
