Bentley man, 42, hit with 19 charges following alleged police pursuit through Perth’s northern suburbs

A 42-year-old man has been stung with 19 charges after allegedly leading police on a dramatic hour-long car chase through Perth’s northern suburbs. Police turned on their lights and sirens after seeing a stolen white Audi Q7 station sedan on Seagrave Street in Gwelup about 8am on Tuesday. The Audi allegedly sped away from officers and an evade police incident ensued through several suburbs. Dramatic police helicopter vision shows the car swerving on a major highway to avoid traffic and police, at one point, side-swiping a ute. The driver goes on to drive on a pathway to avoid a red traffic light. The West Australian understands the Audi was being chased by at least eight police cars. About 9am, several police cars blocked the Audi on Seventh Avenue in Inglewood, where both occupants were arrested. A 42-year-old man from Bentley — alleged to be the driver — has been charged with 19 offences including reckless driving to escape a police pursuit, stealing a motor vehicle and driving recklessly and destruction of property. A 34-year-old woman from Perth has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, possessing a prohibited drug and stealing. They will face Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
