Homicide detectives have issued a public plea for help with an alleged murder case in the Great Southern region.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have visited the BP Roadhouse in Salmon Gums, about 100km north of Esperance, in the hours before Dean Gallagher, 51, was allegedly killed by his son in a bloody confrontation at the roadhouse.

About 12.30am on October 4, police were called to the roadhouse on the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway following reports of an injured person.

Police and St John WA attended the scene where they found the 51-year-old bleeding heavily, believed to be from critical wounds to his leg. He was unable to be revived and died at the scene.

A homicide investigation quickly led to Mr Gallagher’s son, John Gallagher, 27, being charged with murder the following day.

He is due before the courts again on October 30.

Homicide squad detectives are now asking anyone who may have attended the roadhouse between 6pm and 11pm on October 3 to reach out to police with any information they might have.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or who attended the roadhouse is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
