Shayne Bidwell, Darcy Ingle and Zane Marwick recognised as Geraldton country week individual award winners
While Geraldton claimed the Boan Cup after defeating Albany on Friday, three Geraldton locals were presented with individual awards, one walking away with a rare honour.
After the country week A-section final, WA Country Cricket Board chair Rob Marshall presented Geraldton’s Shayne Bidwell with the rare Recognition Award.
Bidwell has scored more than 10,000 runs and taken over 600 wickets in A-grade along with 1271 runs and 138 wickets in 65 country week games. He represented the WA Country XI five times and was selected for the Australian Country XI.
Geraldton’s Darcy Ingle was presented with the John Rutherford Medal by WACA chief executive officer John Stephenson.
Ingle’s 70, his highest score in 29 country week innings, could not have come at a better time and allowed his side to post a match-winning score.
To top off a great day for Geraldton players and supporters, Zane Marwick received the Barry Shepherd Medal as the carnival’s best player.
Marwick scored a total of 185 runs at an average of 37 and claimed 14 wickets at an average of 2.8 over the three qualifying matches and two finals.
