Mum sends son into panic after winning $1.6m in Saturday Lotto after buying ticket in Southern River
It was a phone call full of disbelief and excitement — and it sent her son into a panic.
A Perth mum couldn’t contain her surprise when she found out that she’d become an instant millionaire and immediately called her son.
“I called my son and said I am in shock,” the mother said.
“He thought something horrible had happened before I managed to tell him my Saturday Lotto ticket had all the numbers.”
The mum scooped a cool $1.6 million in the draw after buying the ticket at The Lucky Charm Southern River.
She wants to use her winnings to look after her family and give support to those in need.
Lotterywest spokesman James Mooney said the mother was the 14th Lotto win in WA for 2024.
“It was wonderful to see the family celebrate this life-changing news and laugh about the panic the initial phone call caused,” he said. “We are hoping more good news for WA will follow after tonight’s $40 million Powerball draw.” Tickets for Powerball’s $40 million draw are available in store, online and via the app.
