Hospitality businesses in the Mid West and Gascoyne regions have been recognised at the WA Tourism Awards, with one farm stay taking out the top gong in its category.

The region collected six awards on Saturday night, with Wooleen Station picking up the gold award in the hosted accommodation category.

Wooleen Station offers a stay at a cattle station in the Murchison across 100,000 hectares, with a homestead, guest housing, and camping all available near the Murchison River.

The gold award will see the service represent WA at the Australian Tourism Awards, with the winners announced next year.

Wooleen Station also picked up the bronze award in the ecotourism category.

Meanwhile, three Mid West and Gascoyne businesses received runner-up awards for their efforts.

Finlay’s in Kalbarri took home two silver awards, in the tourism wineries, distilleries and breweries, and tourism restaurants and catering services categories.

Located in the heart of Kalbarri, the restaurant offers a selection of locally sourced food options, as well as providing an in-house brewery.

In the ecotourism category, Sail Ningaloo took out the silver award, with Busselton Jetty awarded the gold.

Bullara Station Stay in the Gascoyne also picked up silver in the unique accommodation category.

It was beaten by Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm near Broome.

Tourism Council WA chief executive Evan Hall said the businesses should be proud of their achievements.

“The Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards are the most prestigious awards in the tourism industry, with a long history of celebrating and recognising business excellence, innovation and outstanding customer service by tourism operators,” he said.
