A Margaret River couple have been reached by WA Police after an extensive search by air in the WA outback.

The pair — in their 60s — had been due to return to their South West home on Sunday, October 6, after a trip through the Warburton area, more than 1700km away.

The last time the pair had contacted family was September 30.

Police Air Wing sighted the couple on Tuesday afternoon during a search of an area about 130km south of the remote community.

And on Wednesday morning police confirmed officers had reached the pair, who were “safe and well”.

“There are no longer any concerns for their welfare,” a police spokeswoman said.

The pair are expected to arrive in Warburton around 12pm.

Warburton police officers were travelling towards the location to complete a welfare check on the pair overnight.
