Chris Allan wins top men’s award, Chloe Buzza and Isabelle Kilpatrick joint women’s A-grade winners

Hundreds of people turned out for the Upper Great Southern Hockey Association presentation night at the John Higgins Building on Saturday evening.

More than 130 people attended the awards night that began with the popular video from Mark Regan, showing off the accomplishments the association had achieved this year.

Chris Allan took out top honours in the SportsPower men’s A-grade, winning the fairest and best award for the 2022 season from runner-up Dane Angwin.

Jack Robinson won the highest goal scorer award while Oliver Tinley took out the 18-and-under gong for the competition.

In the women’s A-grade competition, Chloe Buzza and Isabelle Kilpatrick were named joint best and fairest winners, ahead of Jodie George.

Buzza also claimed the highest goal scorer trophy while Jude Corner won the 18-and-under award.

Steven Durrell was rewarded for his outstanding season, winning the fairest and best award in the men’s B-grade competition.

Kurt Wise finished runner-up fairest and best while Trent Gumprich and Graham Treloar were named joint highest goal scorers.

Sarah Hennessy was recognised for her outstanding season with the fairest and best award in women’s B-grade.

Tracey Price and Pip Treloar finished equal highest goal scorers with Treloar also taking home runner-up fairest and best.

Sharon Ward was recognised for her selflessness and generosity, winning the volunteer of the year award.

The Play the Whistle award in A-grade went to All Blacks while Woodanilling won the same trophy in B-grade.

All Blacks were awarded the same award in women’s B-grade.

Association stalwart Vanessa Perkins officially received her life membership in a special presentation.

Perkins has played in the UGSHA since she was 17, winning countless playing awards during her time which has included stints at country week and country championships.

She has coached, managed and umpired many games while taking on the role as recorder for five years.

The UGSHA congratulated Perkins on a stellar hockey career.

Meanwhile, on Friday night in Perth the UGSHA was presented with an award from the Clubs WA awards.

The association won the Road Safety Award for the “I know what I’d rather be doing“ round held in July this year.

It was presented to Jo Woodruff and Rodney Johnson for their initiative.
