Close shave boost for charity

Narrogin’s Amy George has raised more than $2000 for the Leukaemia Foundation, smashing her target of $1000, after taking part in the World’s Greatest Shave.

“Hair can regrow and money can be remade, so why not put a little towards helping those who are more in need,” she said.

After years of consideration, the clippers were finally brought out during Woolorama on Saturday, March 9.

“My parents participated in the World’s Greatest Shave almost 10 years ago and I’ve known for a long while that I wanted to do the same,” Ms George said. “Every year, there was an excuse but one day I just had an epiphany and thought ‘this is my time to do it, it’s now or never’ and well, here I am.”

Ms George said she had fallen in love with her new look.

She encouraged others to get behind the World’s Greatest Shave.

“Just do it, your hair will grow back eventually but the money raised is going to such a good cause,” she said.

“I don’t think there’s anybody out there whose family hasn’t been affected by some kind of cancer.

“And who knows, you might fall in love with your new look like I have.”
