Dancers make it a night

Dancers from A Night Out brought their performance to the residents of Karinya Aged Care last Friday, delighting them with an afternoon of dancing.

The visit was organised by Arts Narrogin as part of its community engagement program.

“It was incredible to see their reactions and you could see they were genuine. They just loved it,” Arts Narrogin events co-ordinator Brad Flett said.

A Night Out was a dance time-warp performed in the Narrogin Town Hall on Saturday night.

Five dancers took the audience on a journey through the ages with different styles of dance including waltz, ballet, Charleston and tango.

Mr Flett said some people did not have the chance to get to the shows so it was nice Arts Narrogin could bring it to them.

“You think of what they used to do, there was no televisions or movie theatres like we know — they had dance,” he said.

“These people were at those dances in community halls and they appreciate the movement of dance.

“It was such a good feeling.

“That was the highlight of my week by a long shot.”

The dance activity involved performers showing seniors how they warmed up before a performance, followed by a short waltz.

Mr Flett said it was an afternoon that bought together culture, arts, beauty and love.

The WA tour of A Night Out started in Albany last month October and made its way around the State before its last stop in Narrogin.
