Woman in serious but stable condition after car allegedly fled from police crashes into building in Narrogin

A car that ploughed into a building in Narrogin on Thursday — which left one woman with serious injuries — had been involved in a police chase a short time before the crash, according to police. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Federal Street and Park Street about 12.45pm after a blue Holden Commodore crashed into the Narrogin Chiropractic building. The driver and passenger of the car — believed to be a man and a woman in their 30s — were in the vehicle when it struck the building. The woman was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC rescue helicopter in a critical condition. A hospital spokesperson confirmed on Friday afternoon that she is now in a serious but stable condition. The man was taken to Narrogin hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A WA Police spokesman said officers had initially tried to stop the car because of possible false number plates. But the spokesman said the chase was aborted before the crash because of the manner of driving. Major crash investigators have been sent to Narrogin to examine the crash scene.
