Great Southern Wheatbelt Teams Championship event hailed a success at Narrogin Squash Club

Nearly 100 players competed in the Great Southern Wheatbelt Teams Championship over the weekend, Narrogin Squash Club’s first tournament in more than 17 years.

The tournament attracted players from all over the State, 23 from Narrogin Squash Club, and included several State-level players.

Spread across seven divisions, players competed in teams of three for the overall honour of being crowned champion.

In the premier division team ‘‘2 Guys a Girl and a Squash Court” consisting of Jason Patmore, Heddwyn Abrams and Zoe Petrovansky defeated Mirrabooka Squash team in a close and enthralling match, played out on the club’s show court.

Jarrod Denholm, Victor Ranieri and Kane Fasolo took out division four honours while Liam Ranieri, Jane Pratt and Kai Armstrong finished runner-up in division seven.

As well as some incredible squash, players were treated to a function dinner on Saturday night in the John Higgins Community Complex.

Narrogin Squash Club thanked the major sponsors, the Shire of Narrogin and South32, for their contributions to the event as well as many other fantastic sponsors from around Narrogin.

An army of volunteers kept the tournament running smoothly and players fed.

The Great Southern Wheatbelt Teams Championship will be played in Katanning in 2023 and return to Narrogin in 2024.
