Hardie’s century helps Wandering triumph in run-feast against Towns and fellow centurion Perrin Quartermaine

A brilliant century from Bryan Hardie guided Wandering to a 27-run victory over Towns at Wandering Town Oval in round eight of the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association on Saturday. Hardie blasted a run-a-ball century but he wasn’t the only one to reach triple figures in the game, as Towns opener Perrin Quartermaine also scored a ton. Wandering won their third game of the year, with Hardie smashing 135 from 135 balls. Hardie hit 12 fours and four sixes to help his side post 9-264 batting first. He shared in a 155-run partnership with Bailey Parsons (59). When Bailey Parsons was removed, Wandering were 3-250 and they lost 7-14 from there as Liam Blechynden snared 5-13 at the end. In reply Towns fell to 2-48, Quartermaine and Nick Corner combined for 67 runs before Corner was run out for 30. Towns captain Ben McMillan and Quartermaine took their side towards an unlikely victory. The pair added 88 as Quartermaine bought up triple figures, only to be caught and bowled by Lewis Parsons a short time later for 106 off 124 balls, including 11 fours and one six. McMillan was caught for 49 as Towns fell short, finishing on 5-237 from their 45 overs. Lewis Parsons claimed 3-43 off 10 overs for the winners. Williams remained unbeaten after a comfortable 76-run victory over Lake Grace. Williams set Lake Grace 138 for victory, but they were bowled out for just 61 in reply thanks to a six-wicket haul from Rodney Ford. Ford claimed 6-15 off 6.1 overs while Dylan Brooks was the only Lake Grace batsmen to post double figures with 40. Williams were bowled out for 137 batting first as Mitchell Duff top scored with 25 to go with handy contributions from Kim Rintoul (23), Tim Sattler (21) and Steven Ford (21). A five-wicket haul from Grady Francis and a half century to Brock Francis guided Cuballing to a commanding 10-wicket win over Pingelly-Noonebin. Pingelly-Noonebin were bowled out for 94 as Grady Francis claimed 5-15 from his 10-over spell. In reply openers Brock Francis (59no) and Blair Forrest (35no) made easy work, chasing the total down in 20 overs.
