Haystacks, song and stars: excitement builds as tickets for monumental Narrogin Hay Bales Concert go on sale

Tickets for the Narrogin Hay Bales Concert are now available to the community at a subsidised rate thanks to the generosity of Lotterywest. Featuring walls of hay bales stacked 3m high and 5m tall stage-side towers, the concert’s paddock amphitheatre will host the biggest outdoor performance Narrogin has ever seen. “It’s not ply-board put together with tech screws — it’s beyond dreams,” Arts Narrogin events manager Brad Flett said. “By the time we get all the lighting towers up, the backup generators — they’ll be here for a week building the stage alone.” Six weeks out, excitement is building as community members and performers realise the scope of the event to take place in November, the culmination of a 10-month-long journey. “Some of the participants have been playing music for 50 or 60 years, now they’re going to have an orchestra behind them,” Mr Flett said. “When in their wildest dreams could that have happened, unless they’d pursued it as a profession which I’m sure they could have. “There are some people involved with that calibre and there are people like Trish Multon who has played with WASO and Viviane Knight, she’s been at this level — the participants are going to be as in awe as the community.” In an effort to make the concert more accessible to the community Lotterywest has thrown its support behind the PSO and Arts Narrogin event by providing further funding to reduce ticket cost. “We’re very grateful for their gracious support,” Mr Flett said. “They really get the importance of the event.” Tickets for the evening event taking place on November 25 are available online through Humanitix at a cost of $25 or $10 for eligible concession holders. From October 11 ticket sales are open exclusively to community members of Narrogin and surrounding districts. Tickets will be available for purchase by the general public from October 16. Free transport will be provided to and from the event on the night to ticket holders from the Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre carpark.
