The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has forced the Wagin Darts Association to suspend games until further notice.

The darts season began in a cloud of uncertainty but some games were completed before the postponement.

Triples were played at Wagin District Club on March 15 with eight teams of three taking part in round-robin games.

Winners from the triples were Antz Ngauru, Steven Williams and Peter Bartholomuesz ahead of runners-up Joey Hawea, Jen Bannerman and Tom Spurr.

The plate winners for the day were Dave Wright, Lisa Boyce and Sherryl Chilcott and runners-up were Mandy Spurr, Luke Normington and Josh Spurr.

Last Wednesday the first home-and-away games commenced prior to the season being suspended, a decision made with the closure of clubs and pubs.

Morans laid out the welcome mat for Misfits and came away winners, 9-2, after high scores from Tom Spurr (121 and 100), Kevin Spurr (3x100s) and Kim Davidson (120 and 2x100s). Bert Williams (129) had best score for Misfits.

Darkan Red and Gangsters faced off in a game that went to the wire, as Darkan Red prevailed 6-5 on the back of impressive scores from Murray Boxall (2x100s) and Wright (2x140s and 100).

In the other fixture Darkan Blue defeated Allstars 9-2 with high scores for the winners coming from Keisha Tehuki (100), Caine Gray (125 and 100) and George Gray (100).

High scores for Allstars came from John Williams (100) and Graham Wilson (116).

Wright (72.5) had the highest average for the night and he was one of three to score three 100s, with Kevin Spurr and Davidson.

All games are now suspended.
