Matt Iwanow hangs on to win second WA Wingless Sprint Title after prevailing at Narrogin Speedway

Wingless Sprintcar driver Matt Iwanow claimed his second WA Wingless Sprint Title after he prevailed at Narrogin Speedway on Saturday night.

Iwanow won two heat races and finished second in another to be the top points scorer before winning the pole shuffle to start the final from pole position.

Chad Pittard started next to Iwanow on the front row and Pittard had the advantage over Iwanow until running wide on lap nine allowing Iwanow to grab the lead.

The first stoppage came at lap 24 and soon after the restart, Pittard attempted to move back into second spot past Blake Iwanow, only for the latter to end up against the fence and his race over while Pittard was relegated to the rear.

Matt Iwanow was able to hang on the final few laps to claim his second State title with Brendon Wedge finishing in second place, Ash Hounsfield filled third and Brad Fitzgerald was back in fourth.

Daran Humfrey finished second but was disqualified post-race for not going to the scales.

Meanwhile, rookie Jacob Potts claimed his first speedcar feature win at just his fourth outing in the division.

Potts produced a superb drive to claim his maiden WA Speedcar Drivers Association Country Series feature race.

Tom Payet dominated the final before blowing a tire with four laps to go leaving Keenan Fleming in the lead only for his rear tyre to blow as well.

Potts took the lead as a result and was able to hold off a fast-finished Dan Golding while Beau Doyle finished third and Ross Heywood was back in fourth.
