A winter ball planned for July 10 at the Narrogin Town Hall has been postponed until November due to uncertainty over the number of people set to attend.

“We’re disappointed that it hasn’t gone ahead but if you're running something you do need the numbers at least a week before the event so that you can organise the food,” event organiser Kay Weaver, pictured, said.

The Narrogin Rotary Dinner Dance was envisaged as a winter ball in the theme of The Great Gatsby. With dancing and live music from local band Drinks ‘N’ Tips, it would have featured a table service dinner and cocktails from Wise Wine and Gin with proceeds going to Narrogin Rotary Club.

But uncertainty over attendance meant the caterer was forced to pull out and the evening had to be postponed.

“The whole purpose for doing this was that the young people said what they really wanted was a lovely dress-up affair,” Ms Weaver said.

“There are multiple things to go to in Narrogin where you go in jeans and a jumper but something dressy ... there aren't a lot of things that are dressy.”
