Police plea for crash information

Police are appealing to the public for information relating to a fatal crash in North Bannister over the weekend.

Major crash investigators are seeking information from the public about the crash that killed a 19-year-old man from Marangaroo.

He was the sole occupant of a black Mazda 6 sedan driving south on Albany Highway, near Wearne Road, on Saturday night, October 27.

Police believe about 10:40 pm the man veered off the road and struck a tree.

He died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old Katanning man has received serious injuries after being struck by a car while he walked south on the north-bound lane of Great Southern Highway.

A silver Holden Commodore sedan driving north hit the man about 3km south of Lime Lake Road East about 10:05pm on Saturday, October 27.

The driver and passenger of the Commodore stopped at the scene, while a person known to the man driving a white Ford Territory also stopped. Wagin police came across the crash scene.

The man was transferred to Katanning District Hospital by St John Ambulance and was treated for multiple fractures to his arms and legs.

He was later transferred to Royal Perth Hospital via the Royal Flying Doctor Service on Sunday morning, where he remains in a stable condition at the time of publication.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
