Round victory to Lindsay McAuley after strong night at Narrogin in third leg of WA Modified Sedan Series

Lindsay McAuley made it back-to-back victories in the WA Modified Sedan Series after a strong performance in round three at Narrogin Speedway on Saturday night.

There was only a small field of nine drivers who took to the clay in the division but it was McAuley who backed up his round two victory in Geraldton by claiming the 20-lap final.

McAuley started his night in the best possible fashion, winning the opening heat race, before the returning Anthony King prevailed in heat two.

King coasted to victory in heat three, defeating McAuley and former WA champion Branden Fraser but engine dramas ended Jamie Higgs’ night early.

McAuley won the shootout from Clint Noakes, to start the feature from pole position.

That pair along with Shane Brittain battled hard in the opening laps before McAuley took control of the race.

Fraser got past Narrogin’s Paul Stevens and then began to push Noakes and Brittain for the minor placings.

Noakes ran wide allowing Brittain and then Fraser past into second and third respectively and soon after Noakes retired from the race while Brittain also slowed on the back straight.

McAuley continued to extend his lead in the closing stages and went on to score victory by 3.329sec. over Fraser while Stevens finished strongly in front of his home fans to grab third.

Kevin Ellement and Steve Beres rounded out the five cars who finished the main event.

Narrogin also hosted round four of the Legend Cars WA Championship on the night and it was Nathan Brennan who came out on top ahead of Paul Joss and Ken Melvin.

In the support divisions Harrison Beres was too strong for Lucas Stevens and Adam Reynolds in junior sedans, Richard Hicks claimed the street stocks from Danny Reynolds and Fiona Palmer while Adam Arnold defeated Lexie Smith in the production sedans.
