Speedway Midgets celebrate 20 years
Narrogin Speedway celebrated the 20th anniversary of the quarter midget youth project group at their second annual track event last Saturday.
Racing also featured V6 wingless sprintcars, formula 125s, formula 500s and supermods.
The junior quarter midgets battled it out first, with 14 cars and some drivers travelling as far as Geraldton to race with the local teams.
The 15-lap feature kicked off the night, with current State title holder Jasmin Ellis crossing the finish line first.
She was followed by Hailee Berry and Campbell Smith in third place.
In the wingless sprintcars, current State champion Tom Payet dominated the small field with a commanding win in the 20-lap feature, followed across the line by Daran Humfrey and Mathew Ivanhoe.
The formula 125s attracted a field of 11 great cars and drivers from Geraldton and Albany.
Bill Beeck crossed the line in first, closely followed by Chris Pittaway, and Darren Cartwright in third.
Local driver Glen Carstairs broke the track lap record in the first heat of formula 500s, going on to win feature from Chris Dymock and Ryan Barrowcliff.
Supermods rounded out the divisions, with Grant Campbell coming in first after a contested battle with Cameron McEllister, before he was relegated two places for a passing indiscretion.
Final results put McEllister in first place, with Darren Aylmore in second and Campbell in third.
