Top-of-the-table contest in the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association lives up to expectations
The top-of-the-table contest in round six of the Narrogin and Districts Netball Association A1 competition lived up to expectations as Flames won a tight contest by five goals on Saturday.
It was a keenly contested game between the two top teams, Flames 1 and Wagin 1, with only one goal separating the two at the end of the first quarter.
Amazing pressure by both teams down the court was strong and fast, which made for a very physical game.
Wagin’s Wynta Kapene stepped up as a shooter and did a great job with Jaelyn Ranieri but could not beat the Flames’ shooting combinations of Jess Daniels and Ashtyn Steer, and then Chelsea Mulcahy, as Flames increased their first-quarter lead to six by half- time.
In centre court, Wagin’s Felice Pocock matched up well on Amelia Sherry, with both gaining votes at the end of the game.
Wagin’s Jodie Sercombe showed her versatility and experience, playing multiple positions through the game.
The third stanza went goal for goal, with turnovers by both teams successfully converted by the opposition.
Although Wagin won the last quarter by one goal, Flames finished victorious 55-50.
In the other round six matches Wickepin 1 caused an upset over Pingelly 1, 56-46, and Williams 1 were too strong for Cuballing 1, 57-47.
