UGSCA 2024-25: Damian Watt snares five-wicket haul in Cuballing win, Towns and Wandering each secure victories

A Damon Watt-inspired Cuballing secured an 80-run victory over Lake Grace in round seven of the Upper Great Southern Cricket Association in Cuballing on Saturday.

Watt terrorised the visitors’ batters, snaring four of the travellers’ top order on his way to a superb five-wicket haul.

Cuballing were defending 8-206 but Lake Grace never looked like troubling the score, with none of their top seven batters making more than 14 runs as Watt imposed himself on the game.

Lake Grace No.8 Brayden Reynolds provided some resistance with an unbeaten 34 before he ran out of partners and they were rolled for 126 in the 31st over.

Earlier, Joe Dowling scored 54 not out while Grady Francis and Rhett Ballard each added 46 as the hosts posted a strong 206 runs in the first innings.

Dylan Brooks led Lake Grace’s bowling attack with 4-38 from 10 overs.

Towns bounced back from last week’s horror loss to Williams with a brilliant 27-run win over the same opponents in Williams.

Perrin Quartermaine scored 86 at the top of the order while the rest of Towns’ top order all fired with Sam Ellis (46), Leha Tau (30) and Pierre-Lousie Maas (37) all getting starts.

Towns finished their innings on 7-248 with Roger Gillett taking 4-51 from 10 overs for the hosts.

The travellers then restricted Williams to 9-221 through their 45 overs courtesy of three-wicket halls from Mitchell Ackland (3-34) and Maas (3-23).

In the final match of the round, Wandering belted Wickepin-Harrismith by 163 runs in Wandering on Sunday.

Bailey Parsons scored 80 not out, striking seven fours and three sixes, with his stirring knock coming from just 55 balls.

The hosts finished their 45 overs on 8-224 with Tyron Miller leading Wickepin-Harrismith’s bowling cartel with 4-17 from 10 overs.

In reply, Wandering skittled their opponents inside 31 overs for just 61 runs with Bryan Hardie, Ben McMillan, Lewis Parsons and Blake Egerton-Warburton all pinching two wickets each.
