New development in Caboolture manhunt after woman shot dead
Police have released CCTV as part of their manhunt and appeal for information after a young woman was chased and fatally shot in a suburban Queensland street.
Chloe Jade Mason, 23, was found unconscious on Railway Parade in Caboolture about 12.10am on Sunday.
Despite efforts by emergency services to save her life, she was declared dead at the scene.
Police believe Ms Mason, who is also known as CeeJay, had been assaulted, chased down a suburban street by two men and shot.
The men have not been found.
Queensland Police have said they believe Ms Mason was known to her attackers.
As part of their manhunt, police on Friday released CCTV vision from Railway Parade.
In the video, dogs can be heard barking before sirens blare in the distance.
And they are appealing for anyone who was on the street between 11.40pm on Saturday, December 21 and 12.15am on Sunday, December 22 to come forward.
Ms Mason’s sister Dani told Nine News that she “didn’t deserve this” and described her sibling as an “amazing person”.
“She was the most amazing person you could ever meet, like she’s someone that you would have wanted to have by your side in life,” she said.
Ms Mason’s sister, Hannah McKone, also paid tribute to her younger sibling whose life was cut short.
“Grieving the life you never got to have and the experiences we didn’t get the chance to share,” Ms McKone said on Facebook.
“You would’ve been the most amazing mother.”
Ms Mason’s former partner has been revealed as Kane Alexanderson, who was stabbed on Australia Day in 2020 in a gang brawl, according to the Courier Mail.
Mr Alexanderson’s mother, Bianca, told the masthead she met Ms Mason when she was 14 years old.
“They just loved each other. They were beautiful,” she said.
“They had their on-and-off relationship until the day he passed.”
