Police have ramped up their search for a missing eight-year-old girl who was last seen almost seven weeks ago.

Molly Noonan-Medley, aged 8, was last seen in Woonona, south of Sydney, about 11am on October 31.

NSW Police believe the child is in the company of an adult known to her.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District were notified on November 1 and immediately commenced an investigation to locate the child, after attempts to contact the adult were unsuccessful.

In a statement on Monday, NSW Police said they were re-appealing for public assistance almost seven weeks after Molly was first reported missing.

Molly is described as caucasian appearance, 120cm, thin build, blue eyes and blond/brown hair.

It is not known what she may be wearing.

The woman believed to be in company with the child is known to frequent the Woonona, Wollongong and Huskisson areas, a NSW Police spokesperson said.

Anyone with information into her whereabouts is urged to contact Wollongong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
