Brown’s Boxing Day bonanza continues invincible run of form at Esperance Bay Turf Club at tail end of year

Trainer Josh Brown continued his invincible vein of form at the Esperance Bay Turf Club, serving up another three winners at Thursday’s Boxing Day card. New stable acquisition Dubai’s Daughter wasted little time in crediting her Goldfields-Esperance account by romping clear in the first event, providing the season’s leading trainer with the opening race. She finished three lengths ahead of Brown’s other runner I Had A Dream, who in turn was two lengths clear of the rest. Keep A Knockin’ put Helen Harding on the board in the second, grabbing Brown’s Sugared Up who had stormed clear with what looked a race-winning lead. Noble veteran Kenny The King broke through for his first win in nearly two years when ridden by jockey Brandon Louis who, incidentally, had partnered him for that previous victory. Trainer Joanna Offen would be reduced to second place in the next, though, as Josh Brown’s Boozeroo made it two from two for the Esperance season by beating Blazing Passion. Fiona Scott’s perseverance with Mussa was rewarded, with the galloper overcoming gate 12 to register his first win since an April 2022 event at Narrogin when trained by Adam Durrant. Minor Detail completed Brown’s hat-trick, lifting strongly to hold off Gary Burger’s in-form West Coast Warrior before $41 outsider So Likable scored the last. The roughie never looked like losing and supplied Ricky Moss with his first winner of the season, depriving Josh Brown with a four-timer as Elite Fighter chased him home.
