Not-for-profit funeral home service looking for donations to get South West service off the ground

Not-for-profit funeral home service Tender Funerals Geographe has put the call out to philanthropists and donors to help support its goal of creating a permanent base in the South West. The service will be run by a mixture of professional staff and volunteers, offering “affordable, dignified and transparent” funeral services along with community education for end-of-life options. Funds are currently being raised by a volunteer team to acquire or build a dedicated facility to act as the heart of its operations. Tender Funerals Geographe director Charlotte Brown said the motivation behind the idea was to give all people the funeral they deserve regardless of financial situation. “As a not-for-profit initiative, we believe that funeral services should be affordable and dignified,” she said. “We are appealing to philanthropists and donors who share our vision of a community-based, transparent, and at-cost funeral service. “Your support will help us create a lasting legacy for families in the South West, ensuring they have access to funeral care that reflects their values and needs, regardless of their financial situation.” The service would run under the banner of Tender Funerals Australia which currently has three services across regional NSW as well as in Canberra. There are a number of other sites currently in the works, including in Perth. The organisation says it Geographe branch has deductible gift recipient and public benevolent institution status and donations are tax-deductible.
