Seoul snowfall breaks 1907 record for November
The heaviest November snowfall ever recorded in Seoul has caused transport problems in the South Korean capital on Wednesday.
As of Wednesday AEDT, Seoul had already accumulated 16cm of snow - the highest level recorded for November since records began in 1907.
The previous record for the month was 12.4cm on November 28, 1972, according to data from the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The volume of accumulated snow in the capital is expected to increase and to last well into Thursday.
The first snow of the season in South Korea also affected other regions such as the provinces of Gangwon, North Chungcheong and North Jeolla, and the most mountainous areas of North Gyeongsang.
In Seoul, city trains, high-speed trains and subway services have been affected with delays during rush hour.
A dozen flights were cancelled early Wednesday at Incheon, the main airport in South Korea.
