“Witnesses say the owner of another vehicle that was hit was quite emotional,” 7NEWS reporter Rory Campbell said.

“Their cars were crashed into by another vehicle which was racing along Church Street around 1:30pm.

“The car flipped and witnesses say the teenagers inside got out and tried to make a run for it.

“They might have been able to get away if it wasn’t for a couple of people in the area who chased them down and held them until Police arrived.”

One of the teenagers has been transported to hospital and the other is being interviewed by police.

Two brothers are being hailed as heroes after chasing down the teens.

“Seen a car was flipped over and a bit of carnage on the street ... and we’ve seen two guys climb out of the car and as soon as they hit the floor, they legged it and started running,” Matthew Turco told 7NEWS.

“Me and brother looked at each other and we stepped into action.”

Brother Damian was a bit “hesitant” at first.

“He said carjacking? I said yep, he goes we’ll get him, I said alright let’s go for it and we started chasing them,” he said.

Lewis retired in 2019 after a brilliant 319-game career with Hawthorn and Melbourne.
