Duff and Quarters: ‘Fremantle will play finals next year’

West Coast got the better of Fremantle in derby 51 with the Dockers going down to their cross-town rivals by 31 points but The West Australian’s chief footy writer Mark Duffield and The Sunday Times Glen Quartermain saw plenty to like from Freo.

On this week’s episode of The Duff and Quarters Podcast the pair conceded the Dockers were outmatched on Sunday but with a developed and healthy list believe a far more competitive future awaits the Purple Army.

“Yeah good call, I’d put money on that,” Quartermain agreed.

“Given the available side Freo had, given West Coast were at full strength outside of Luke Shuey, I actually took more away from that game if I was a Freo supporter.”

Duffield criticised the Dockers recent record to successfully rehabilitate players last week, but both anticipate far closer derby contests in the years to come.

“We will probably see a different derby rivalry in a couple of years time,” Duffield said.

“If Fremantle could get their best team on the park would be completely different.”
