Super Rugby Pacific: Western Force captain and Wallabies lock Jeremy Williams re-signs for two more years

Western Force captain Jeremy Williams will extend his tenure with the club into a fourth and fifth year, signing a new two-year deal to remain with the club until the end of the 2027 season. After a breakout second season with the Force in 2024 which resulted in a maiden Wallabies call-up and entrenching himself in Australia best 15 by season’s end, Williams has re-upped with the club. The former Waratah has been one of the Force’s most consistent performers since joining ahead of the 2023 season, growing in stature despite the injury-inflicted absence of fellow second-rower Izack Rodda. He made 10 appearances for the Wallabies last season, starting seven matches and scoring a try in Australia’s famous last-gasp win over England at Twickenham. Williams’ re-signing not only gives the Force a dependable option at lock to build their pack around, but also tethers him to Rugby Australia and ensures he will not be lured overseas by cashed-up European and Japanese teams, which would rule him out of Wallabies contention. Williams said he had full faith in what the Force were building and he never had any second thoughts about re-signing. “First of all, I’ve loved my time here in Perth. We have a great playing group. We have a great coaching staff and it’s a great organization. I love the way we’re headed,” he said. “The connections I’ve made here have been really good. I can really see we’re building some special and I just want to be a part of it. “I’ve had a great 24 months since I came over here, so I want to give back to the Force and repay the club’s faith in me. “I couldn’t think of any better place to be than here with the boys, the coaching staff and the organisation. I didn’t want to go anywhere else.” Force coach Simon Cron said they thrilled to have Williams re-commit to the program. “He is an amazing leader, a great human and a massive part of our environment. The coaching staff, management and players love him being here, so we’re thrilled to have him re-sign and continue to bring his enthusiasm and drive to the program,” he said. “It’s been really exciting to watch his progression and to see him wearing the gold jersey. Our job now is to help him to continue his journey and be the best he can be.” Rugby Australia director of high-performance Peter Horne said both the Force and Wallabies stood to benefit significantly from Williams’ re-signing. “He’s a great young player at the start of his international career and a strong ambassador for our game off the field. We’re looking forward to watching him continue to grow and work hard in the Australian system.”
