West Australians could pay as little as $4 on top of the fare from Perth to Tokyo to connect onwards to Osaka, Fukuoka or Nagoya from September.

The daily All Nippon Airways service to Tokyo begins on September 1 with return economy fares from $861 and side-trips to Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya are free aside from a local tax of $4-$40.

WHAT TO DO IN JAPAN...

The airline will also carry skis and snowboards for free.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight with 138 economy seats, 14 premium economy seats and 32 business class seats will depart Perth at 8.15pm, arriving in the Japanese capital at 8.25am on the following day.

Return premium economy fares are $1561 while business class fares are $3521.
