Narrogin newcomers celebrate, connect and discover the town at the Welcome to Narrogin event at leisure centre

More than 200 people met at the Narrogin Regional Leisure Centre on Thursday for the town’s Welcome to Narrogin event where locals made new arrivals feel welcome. About 50 stalls provided newcomers with information on how to get involved in the town, including volunteering, employment, education, and services. For those interested in athletics, clubs such as the Netball and Districts Association and the Narrogin Football Club provided guides on how to make the most of sporting opportunities, whether as a player or support behind the scenes. Arts Narrogin and Narrogin Art Group promoted their offerings with the latter displaying artwork from its members. Narrogin Children and Families Incorporated advertised its community family hub project and its plans to rebuild an after-school care facility. Rural Clinical School of WA 2025 medical student Sarah Jakobson — who moved to the town in January — said she gained a greater understanding of the community through the event. “It’s really just putting everything that Narrogin has to offer out in one spot at one time so we can see everything,” she said. “Being able to physically see it and interact with people involved helps engagement and makes it more exciting to join.”
