ADCA 2024-25: Royals remain undefeated with rousing bowling performance over Collingwood Park

A superb team bowling performance helped Royals overcome a determined Collingwood Park to register a commanding 63-run win in round seven of the Albany and Districts Cricket Association on Saturday.

Park bowled the Lions out for just 168 — their lowest first innings total of the year — in the last over at Turf North, but were unable to carry that momentum into their pursuit as the reigning premiers ran through their batting lineup.

Lions seem bowler Hayden Davies starred with 3-19 from eight overs while part-time leg spinner Angus Thompson took 3-13 from six overs.

At 3-24, young gun all-rounder Jed Schwarzbach and Englishman Freddie Sharp toiled to reconstruct the run chase with a much-needed 50-run stand.

But when the Lions manufactured two run outs in as many balls Park’s innings began to unravel.

Still needing 90 runs for victory, star all-rounder Ryley Valli put the clamps on with superb tight bowling, leaking just nine runs in his six overs.

Thompson and Davies then cleaned up the tail as Park’s final five wickets fell for just 15 runs, bringing their innings to an end in the 37th over.

After winning the toss and batting, the Lions struggled to score at their usual fast rate as Park bowled smartly to their field.

They quelled inform batsman Valli’s influence, the competition-leading run-scorer managing just 26 runs from his 88 balls faced.

HoHowever, Lions captain Mitch Green continued his brilliant season with 59 runs — his third half-century of the season — from 70 balls.

Matt France added a crucial 22 runs in a 43-run stand with his skipper before he fell to Schwarzbach, who finished with superb figures of 3-37 from 10 overs.

Buddy Robinson played a key role with the ball for Park taking 3-27 from 8.3 overs.
